This list includes the botanical families of Australian native plants with bulbous, tuberous, cormous, or rhizomatous qualities. The classifications presented here follow the most up-to-date botanical research.

To the left is a list of the representative families. Clicking on these takes you to the species list for that family. Each species is followed by the Australian states  in which it is found. Synonyms likely to be encountered are listed within square brackets. In many instances, links to images on the web are given at the end of each species’ listing.

Some borderline genera are included in this list, such as Dianella and most of the Haemodoraceae. Although these are more accurately considered herbaceous perennials, they do have a similar appearance to their genuinely bulbous relations. Furthermore, only those terrestrial orchids growing from tuberoids (rather than pseudobulbs) are considered.
