ABA Members

Dear fellow bulb enthusiast, thank you for visiting the ABA site and we trust that you will find the contents of this site of ongoing interest.

Please take time to enjoy some of the information and articles included in this site. There is a rich variety of members of this association, who together grow the numerous genera and species of plants with bulbs, that include rhizomatous, tuberous or cormous forms of plants.

Some of the specific goals of the ABA over the coming years include:
Linking up with like-minded Associations Societies or Clubs to share and obtain resources.
Assisting folks in other regions to start their own bulb group supported by the A.B.A.
Compiling a botanical reference, containing cultivation techniques, bulb identification, locations and resources to obtain bulbs

The bulb collections, level of plant culture knowledge, botanical and photographic skills, within the association is significant. Whether you are an expert or novice grower there are plenty of reasons why joining the ABA will increase your enjoyment and fascination with bulbous plants and the fellowship of their growers.

Since forming the ABA in September 2001, membership has grown with members from all States of Australia, from the USA, Argentina and Germany.

Seed bank
In order to cater to gardeners and enthusiasts with an interest in growing and collecting bulbs, a bulb seed bank has been organised to distribute seeds of bulb species and hybrids.

Membership of the Australian Bulb Association Inc entitles you to purchase the seed of the bulbs in the Autumn and Summer lists at $1.00 per seed packet.
The cost for nonmembers is $3.50 per seed packet.

ABA Journal
A quarterly bulb journal was printed and dispatched to members who subscribe to the journal. An annual publication is to take its place in 2003. An idea of the range of articles and bulb garden lore can be seen in the contents lists of the quarterly journals produced during 2002. Please click here for a preview of Articles in past journals.

Articles are obtained from members and this is an opportunity for anyone wishing to share his or her gardening and bulb culture experiences with others.
If you are interested in publishing your experiences, send us your notes on what you have achieved in your garden. What bulbs have done well in your area? Which ones haven't and why? All of these tit-bits are interesting to us all.
